It’s a bit cool and windy here on the Llano Estacado. The sun is down, but the people are up. P.S., did I mention I got FOUR reflectors yesterday for $0.95 a pair?
I’m not sure that any of the readers, whether you be friends or family, know about the plans I have for my canine future. The truth is, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about this along with a lot of talking with Nicole. We’ve known for a while that we would, some day, get a Chihuahua. While we still haven’t given that desire up, our plans have changed slightly.
We love dogs too much to not have one. Living in the dorms here at Tech is KILLING us because we can’t have dogs, and we’ve decided that as soon as we move out into our own place we will get a puppy ASAP! But not a chihuahua. About 4 or 5 days ago Nicole and I went to the mall and, as usual, we visited the pet store. I’m not a fan of these stores because they keep puppies locked in cages, but there really isn’t anywhere else to go if you just want to play with one. Lo and behold, I saw a gorgeous, fawn Doberman through the window and I had the owner take her out. It was love at first sight.
When I went back the next day (yes, I went back just to see her again), she was gone. Someone had bought her right after we left the day before. I have made the decision that our first dog WILL be a female Doberman, black and rust colored. [This is subject to change, but] I will name her Gamma. She’ll wear this on her chain collar:
I’m completely obsessed with Dobermans in general now. You can take a look at the videos that first inspired me to consider the breed in the first place. Her name is Ramsey, and she’s probably the 3rd most popular Doberman in the world, right behind Zeus and Apollo from Magnum, P.I.. Click here to see Ramsey & Pablo.
Nicole is already accusing me of causing future jealousy issues. People will just have to understand that its okay to have 2 girls in my life, because one will get most of my love and the other will be Nicole.
My second ever photo shoot. It has been about 3-4 months since I started. I hope I can have other opportunities and be able to shoot other subjects, but Nicole is certainly my favorite. Here are my favorites.
I update my photography on another site regularly, but I’ll just post some of my favorites on this blog now and then. This is Volume 1, enjoy! These are in order from most recent to oldest!
In less than 24 hours, I will be on my way to the Alamo City to play in the Alamo Bowl which will be in the Alamo dome. Alamo Alamo Alamo. Crap, now its one of those words that doesn’t make sense when you say it a hundred times.
Coach Leach has been suspended, people are attacking Mr. Anderson in the Avalanche-Journal…what gives, guys? Texas Tech fans and students truly stand alone in this universe. All other life forms seem to hate us. But who cares, NEW YEARS IN SAN ANTONIO! Plus I have used my christmas money to get me a nice new 50mm f1.8 lens. What does that all mean? Well, you can start following my photography work by going to sargedesign.tumblr.com and checking out the work I do for now. If I go somewhere with it one day, I’ll change the site from tumblr to a dedicated photography site, blog and all. I’m always looking for subjects to practice on though, so if you have an event or want portraits (self, engagement, couple, etc) just say, “Hey, do it.” and i’m there.
Thats about it for now. Time to get out of bed and go see some sunshine. And snow. Lots of snow.
These are my favorite quotes from Mr. Anderson so far this year:
More will come later.
Strive for Honor.
Saturday night was a hard fought battle between two teams that showed a surprising presence on defense. At halftime the score was 10-3, not a single offensive touchdown was scored until the end of the 3rd quarter. Missing 2 defensive ends, Taylor Potts and Brandon Carter having the flu, the ref’s doing their usual business, and being in Austin…we played like the elite team I know we are. The final score of 34-24 may look like an “eh” game, but it was so much closer. I’m not sure that we would have won, but had it not been for an iffy offensive pass interference call in the 4th quarter, I imagine the margin would have been cut to a field goal.
For some reason, we went down in the polls by 5 slots…after 3 top 15 teams lost yesterday, I’m not sure what the logic is there. But I can guarantee you this, we scared the crap out of the Big 12 last night. And they ought to be scared.
But the trip from the Goin’ Band perspective was great! I still hate Austin, but I had a great time with my friends and of course, Nicole. We made a lot of noise in the stands, had a good laugh at some of the Texas fans, and congratulated our guys on a great game.
My Players of the Game:
Texas :: Jordan Shipley, for scoring the first touchdown in a punt return. Texas Tech :: Taylor Potts, for taking helmet-to-helmet (uncalled) and getting back up and not slowing down. Way to throw for another 400! 1200 yards on the season in 3 GAMES!
Way to go, Tech. Goin’ Band is 3-0…ALL THE WAY TO STATE BABY!
It’s no secret that the foundation of the Big 12 strongholds have been shaken to a high extent. Okahoma falls to BYU in the season opener, and in a shocking upset Oklahoma St. falls victim to Houston…an unranked, non-conference opponent. They say all bad things come in three’s; whether that be celebrity deaths, natural disasters, or even football games. Which begs the question: Is Texas Tech the “bad thing” that’s about to happen to Texas?
Don’t call it upset. Texas Tech is unranked and might I add very deceptively, with an extremely potent offense that put up over 500 yards against Rice and a defensive line that is looking more like a brick wall than a few big guys, it’s time to start taking a serious look at what’s about to come out of Lubbock, TX in the next few weeks. But before that, we take a trip about 5 hours south to the capitol city for the Big 12 conference opener.
When you consider the struggling Texas offensive line and the shakiness of Colt McCoy combined with the aforementioned building momentum of the Texas Tech defense, your eyebrows might perk up a few millimeters. The Red Raider defense deflected 15 passes and created 6 sacks against Rice last week, 3 of which were from the defensive line alone. While the Texas secondary is looking pretty swell, Taylor Potts threw 7 TD passes in Lubbock last Saturday to tie the school record for number of scoring passes in a single game.
All this considered, what if I’m missing the point? What if Texas has just had a harder schedule than Tech and I’m not seeing that they aren’t even in the same league? Well Wyoming, Texas’ last opponent, who is picked to finish last in the Mountain West conference, forced Texas to punt twice in the first half in Austin. At one point, Wyoming even took the lead over Texas. This is not to say we should forget that Texas had their showing in the second half, eventually beating them by more than 30 points. But while Texas was shining up their helmets after the game, Tech was busy putting up 55 points on Rice, a team that is arguably more formidable than Wyoming this year.
So the sportswriters can fan-boy all they want over Texas, and I will be the first to tell you when my team is not ready if they truly are not, and I don’t boo over a penalty call when we deserve it…but today I tell you that the Mike Leach and the Red Raiders are ready to take on Texas this Saturday. It’s Intl. Talk Like a Pirate Day, the wind’s at our back, and the seas are ours.
Heave ho, all together, hoist the colors high.
Texas Tech 45 Texas 32
As we continue to add content, the basic layout for the new AaroNicole.com is DONE. I decided to use Wordpress as the CMS this time around, it’s incredibly user friendly and it fits the needs of our site. As you probably saw, the site opens up with a splash page that I created in Flash, just something nice and aesthetic to let people know the date of our wedding and the purpose of the site.
Once again, I offer my services. Web and Graphic design are my major!
